Quantum electronics for fundamental physics

The emerging field of quantum sensors and electronics for fundamental physics is introduced, emphasising the role thin-film superconducting devices. Although next generation ground-based space-based experiments requires development advanced technology across whole electromagnetic spectrum, this article focuses on ultra-low-noise techniques radio to far-infrared wavelengths, where existing devices fall short theoretical limits. Passive circuits, detectors amplifiers are described from classical perspectives, sensitivities detector-based amplifier-based instruments discussed. Advances will be achieved through refinements in technology, but innovation essential. needed developments go beyond engineering relate studies that bring together concepts information theory, circuit theory device physics. This has been written introduce graduate-level scientists sensor physics, rather than as a formal review.
